  1. Admission intimation and application id will be communicated through phone. The Admission Card can be downloaded from our Website by using the Application ID. Please take a print and seek permission from your supervisors. Please go through the guidelines to the participants in our website www.academicstaffcollege.com and attend the course accordingly.

  2. Outstation Participants will be paid TA as per the UGC norms. Tickets on both ways (original) should be produced on the first day. Late submission of original tickets, after the first day will not be accepted.

  3. Local participants will be paid Rs.100/- per day as DA for the actual number of days for which they have attended the programme i.e. excluding the holidays. Participants from Pollachi, Tirupur, Mettupalayam, Palakkad and other towns within a distance of 60 kms will be treated as local participants.

  4. Outstation participants will be paid Rs.250/- per day as DA towards Boarding and Lodging for the whole duration of the course. When boarding and lodging is provided by ASC, the DA will be adjusted accordingly.

  5. Simple accommodation will be arranged as far as possible in the Students’ Hostel on payment basis on First Come First Served basis. However, the participants are advised to bring their own bedding and lock. They are advised to make their own arrangements for food and refreshment. Kindly note that the Academic Staff College will not ensure stay facilities for all. Depends on the availability, rooms will be provided. Discipline norms and timings should be followed in the Hostel.

  6. Academic Staff College is housed in the premises of the School of Distance Education which is near to the second gate (Hostel Bus-stop/University Second Gate) of the University

  7. Participants are not permitted to go for any official or ‘Other Duty’ work / Interview during the period of the course. They are also not permitted to avail any permission for not attending the classes under any circumstances. They should be punctual and regular to the classes. If a participant has to undergo a medical test / leave for sickness he/she has to inform the Academic Staff College and discontinue the course. No TA/DA will be granted for the candidates who discontinue the course. Even half a day absence if any, will be recorded in the participation certificate. Late coming will be treated as absence. Decision of the course co-ordinator is final in this matter.

  8. Participants should produce proper relieving order from their institution while joining the course. No one will be admitted without relieving order.

  9. Participants must bring adequate funds to meet their expenses during the course period, since the TA and DA claims will be settled only on the last day of the course and there is no provision for advance payment towards their TA and DA. Room rent should be paid one day before the final day of the programme.

  10. Participants have to carry out paper presentations/assignments/projects etc. prescribed as part of the course without fail. Tests will be conducted and the grades received will be recorded in the certificate. Grades given by the Course co-ordinators for general participation and seminar presentation are final. No review will be permitted in these two items. Trainees are encouraged to bring their laptops for presentation.

  11. One participant will be nominated by trainees to co-ordinate the programme with ASC. Feedbacks related to Resource persons may be given on everyday basis.

  12. Holidays: Sundays only. If any national holiday falls during the period of the course, the following Sunday will be a working day to compensate the holiday.

  13. The Participants will be evaluated on the following basis:

    a. The total marks are 100 and the same is distributed in the following manner:
    a) General Participation during class room sessions* 20
    b) Seminar Presentations* 20
    c) Assignments (One assignment at the end of each week) 20
    d) Preparation of a Minor project to the UGC 20
    e) Two objective/descriptive tests 20

    * Marks given by the Course co-ordinator is final, no review is permitted.


    For items c, d & e there may be a review if there is any representation. The ASCs decision is final in this matter.
    After receiving the marks the trainees should sign in their answer scripts.

    b. The grades will be indicated on the certificate to be given to the teacher participant at the end of the programme.
    Details of Grading:
           A         Grade         75% and above
           B         Grade         60% and above
           C         Grade         50 to less than 60%
           F         Grade         Below 50%

    Those teacher participants who get ‘F’ grade are required to repeat the programme after a gap of one year without any financial commitment to UGC-Academic Staff College.

  14. Subject to the conditions and guidelines of the UGC and the University, the Director’s decision shall be final, in respect of all issues pertaining to the course. Important announcements will be made through SMS and e-mail.

  15. Participants are to abide by the rules and regulations of the UGC - Academic Staff College and the University. Educational Tour is compulsory. University will arrange a bus

  16. Kindly note that stay facilities in the students hostel is not guaranteed. If rooms are not available the participants have to make their own arrangements for their stay.

  17. All Buses plying to Maruthamalai from Gandhipuram Bus Stand (Bus Nos. 1, 1B, 1D, 1E, S26, 70, 76, 92) will pass through Bharathiar University. Participants can also board Bus No.1c (which goes upto Vadavalli) from Singanallur Bus Stand and from Railway Station. From Vadavalli they can take any bus which goes to Maruthamalai.
